Living Our Values Award
April 2, 2007
Dear Colleagues:
I invite you to submit nominations for UC Irvine’s “Living Our Values” awards, which have been developed to recognize members of our employee community who, in the course of their work, bring to life the values so important to our university.
These awards acknowledge staff members on campus and at the medical center whose actions best embody our values of respect, intellectual curiosity, integrity, commitment, empathy, appreciation and fun. These tenets guide our daily actions and interactions and they are at the heart of what we most highly regard in each other as individuals. They also are at the heart of what makes us a great center of learning, teaching, creativity and discovery.
The awards, presented twice a year, will honor two staff members and one staff team. Each individual and team awardee will have the opportunity to direct a $1,000 contribution from UC Irvine to any University of California program or registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of their choice. Awardees also will be guests at an annual lunch hosted by the chancellor at Tierney University House and featured in a spotlight on the UC Irvine home page.
Nominations for the spring 2007 awards will be due April 17, 2007. I encourage you to visit the values award page to learn about the criteria for these awards and how to submit nominations.
Michael V. Drake, M.D.
Chancellor
