Chancellor Drake Attends Fundraising Retreat, Meets Scholarship Recipients
Chancellor Michael Drake and his wife, Brenda, attended the University of California, Irvine Foundation’s annual retreat in San Diego on Aug. 17. The retreat focused on maintaining and strengthening UC Irvine’s record-breaking fundraising, which has garnered more than $100 million in each of the last two years. The foundation is a nonprofit organization composed of community and campus leaders who foster and manage private support for the campus’s priorities.
While attending the retreat, the Drakes met several recipients of prestigious, merit-based scholarships and fellowships, including Chancellor’s Club, Regents’ and Sage Scholars. Every foundation board member has supported scholarships and/or fellowships, and students who have benefited from the attendees’ support were invited to the retreat.
