Former President of Ireland, Rights Activist Mary Robinson Speaks at UC Irvine
On April 19, Chancellor Michael Drake and more than 300 campus and community guests attended a lecture by Mary Robinson, the former president of Ireland and U.N. high commissioner for human rights. Robinson discussed the concept of universal human rights for all people and encouraged members of the audience to work toward this goal.
The event was co-sponsored by the Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellows Series and UCI’s Center for the Study of Democracy. Robinson was presented with the UCI Citizen Peacebuilding Prize after the lecture.
