Chancellor Drake Rides with Chief Executive Roundtable, UCI Bike Club

Chancellor Michael Drake and members of UCI’s Chief Executive Roundtable joined UCI Bike Club members Oct. 31 at the Anteater Recreation Center for the annual bike ride with the chancellor and a post-ride reception. Put on by ARC Club Sports, the event attracted nearly 40 riders, including 27 student members of the bike club; UCI Cycling Coach Dave Jordaan; Chief Executive Roundtable members Joe Dunn, Bob Romney and Jon Wampler; Roundtable guests Geoff Glass, Robyn Stein, Julie Romney, Andre van der Hoek and Hasan Nouri; UCI Police Chief Paul Henisey and Campus Recreation Associate Director Mike Puritz.

The group embarked on a 21-mile ride, beginning at the ARC and touring through campus before heading to the Newport Back Bay and the San Diego Creek trail. Following the ride everyone returned to the ARC for a reception, which included an appearance by alumna Amber Neben, a former bike club member. A professional cyclist who competed in the Beijing Olympics, Neben is the current Time Trial World Champion.
