Chancellor Drake Celebrates Humanities Gateway Dedication
Chancellor Michael Drake joined campus and community members Oct. 2 in the Humanities International Courtyard to dedicate the Humanities Gateway building. The rich tradition of the humanities at UCI was celebrated with a schoolwide open house, featuring poetry and book readings by faculty members, musical performances and student film screenings.
The fifth building in the Humanities Plaza, the gateway is also home to humanities’ multidisciplinary centers, including the International Center for Writing & Translation, UC Humanities Research Institute, Samuel Jordan Center for Persian Studies & Culture, and Humanities Center; as well as the Office of the Dean; the departments of Art History, Asian American Studies, Film & Media Studies, Women’s Studies; and the Program in African American Studies.
