Chancellor Drake Presides Over New Student Convocation

Chancellor Michael Drake joined 4,500 new freshman and transfer students Sept. 21 at the Bren Events Center to begin Welcome Week and open the academic school year.

The event was kicked off by UCI’s Anteater Band, the cheerleading squad and Peter the Anteater. The ceremony featured a procession of faculty and administrators in regalia; the national anthem sung by the Clair De Lune Ensemble; and remarks by Chancellor Drake and ASUCI President Megan Braun, a fourth-year history and philosophy double major.
