Chancellor Drake Welcomes Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez to UCI

Chancellor Michael Drake welcomed Rep. Loretta Sanchez to UCI Aug. 4. Following their meeting, John Hemminger, physical sciences dean, led the congresswoman on a tour of the National Fuel Cell Research Center, where innovative research is being conducted on fuel cell power for cars and homes. Sanchez then visited UCI’s stem cell labs where researchers’ discoveries led to the first clinical trial of a stem cell treatment for spinal cord injury and, more recently, to promising treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.
