Chancellor Drake Introduces Dan Burk for Law School’s First Chancellor’s Chair Lecture
Chancellor Michael Drake presided over the first School of Law investiture ceremony May 13 to introduce founding faculty member Dan Burk as endowed chair and Chancellor’s Professor of Law. More than 125 guests were on hand in the Calit2 auditorium to hear Drake thank the Donald Bren Foundation for its support of endowed faculty positions across the campus. Burk followed with the first Chancellor’s Chair lecture, “Virtual Worlds, Virtual Property,” in which he discussed the emerging relationship of copyright to computer games and the texts that surround them. Burk is an intellectual property law expert, specializing in cyber law and biotechnology, who came to UCI from the University of Minnesota Law School.
UCI’s School of Law welcomes its inaugural class of 68 students in August 2009.
