Chancellor Drake Welcomes UC PRIME Symposium Participants
Chancellor Michael Drake offered both welcoming and closing remarks at the University of California Program in Medical Education (PRIME) Symposium hosted by UC Irvine Feb. 27 and 28. The event brought together PRIME students, faculty and administrators from seven University of California campuses to hear speakers and participate in working sessions on such topics as community-university collaborations, health policy and healthcare reform, and diversity in medicine.
As an initial step in establishing a network that will grow, prosper and sustain itself over decades, the symposium provided an opportunity for participants to share best practices, form collaborations, expand focus, and discuss the future of this effort aimed at preparing medical students to better care for underserved populations throughout California.
The PRIME symposium was generously underwritten by The California Endowment.
