Chancellor Drake Spotlights Campus Commitment in Community Update
On Feb. 20, Chancellor Michael Drake hosted the UC Irvine Community Briefing and Recognition of Newly Elected Officials at the University Club. More than 150 community leaders, mayors of Orange County’s cities, city council members, state senators and assembly members, members of Congress and their staffs, and UCI deans, faculty and staff convened to hear an update on UCI’s $1 billion Shaping the Future fundraising campaign and other campus news.
Chancellor Drake told attendees that during this fiscal crisis communication and partnership with our community is of vital importance. He also assured the group that UCI remains committed to carrying out its mission of excellence in teaching, research and public service by focusing on issues that can make a difference locally and globally.
