Chancellor Drake Honors UCI Members of National Academies

Chancellor Michael Drake and his wife, Brenda, hosted a dinner Feb. 12 for UCI members of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering and Institute of Medicine. The National Academy of Sciences was created in 1863 by President Abraham Lincoln to “investigate, examine, experiment and report upon any subject of science or art.” The academy added engineering in 1964 and medicine in 1970, and now has more than 2,000 peer-elected members and foreign associates, including 40 at UCI.
