Chancellor Drake Looks to the Future of ’Eater Nation

Chancellor Michael Drake and the University of California, Irvine Foundation hosted a discussion with Athletics Director Mike Izzi, coaches, student-athletes and community members about the future of UC Irvine athletics.

Approximately 100 people gathered Nov. 13 for “We Are ’Eater Nation,” featuring Izzi and Julie Brooks, women’s golf head coach; Mike Gillespie, baseball head coach; and John Speraw, director of volleyball. The coaches recapped the success of their respective programs, including NCAA championships and Big West titles. Looking to the future, they discussed the resources they will need to ensure continued success, such as scholarship support and additional facilities.

The event was part of a biannual series hosted by the foundation to raise awareness among trustees and the broader community about the university’s key initiatives.
