State Leaders Discuss Alternative Energy at UCI Summit
Chancellor Michael Drake, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown joined more than 400 other participants at the May 13 “Energy Alternatives: America’s Challenge in the Global Economy” summit in Newport Beach. Hosted by UC Irvine, the Milken Institute and the New Majority California Energy Task Force, the summit brought together dynamic leaders from academia, industry and government to find solutions to the energy crisis facing the nation.
Schwarzenegger and Brown gave keynote speeches on California’s leadership role in promoting alternative energy, developing greener environmental policies and fighting global warming. The summit also featured panel discussions, presentations and small group sessions on innovative sources of alternative energy, including fuel cell technology, biofuels, and solar, wind and nuclear energy.
